Leeds United is thrilled to announce the acquisition of Isaac Schmidt from St. Gallen in the Swiss Super League. The 24-year-old has signed a four-year contract, bringing his versatile skills to Daniel Farke’s squad. Schmidt is known for his ability to play multiple positions, primarily as a full-back, on both sides of the field.
Beginning his career at Lausanne-Sport and progressing through Team Vaud’s youth ranks, Schmidt made a significant impact upon joining St. Gallen in 2021. Over the next few seasons, he solidified his place in the team with numerous appearances and contributions in goals and assists.
Schmidt’s crowning moment came during the 2024/25 season when he helped St. Gallen qualify for the main stage of the Europa Conference League with a stunning goal against Trabzonspor. His performances have also caught the eye of the Switzerland Under-20 national team, earning him two caps against strong opposition.
Leeds United welcomes Isaac to Elland Road, where he will don the number 33 shirt. As the club’s second signing on transfer deadline day and eighth overall this summer, Schmidt’s arrival wraps up a successful period of recruitment for the team.
