Last night, Harry Kane once again found himself on the scoresheet for England against Scotland, much to the delight of his former Tottenham Hotspur teammate, James Maddison.
For years, Kane had been the shining star and captain of Spurs, but he recently made the decision to move on. Bayern Munich came calling, and Kane agreed to join the German champions.
Although Tottenham already possessed a formidable attack, the addition of Maddison made them even stronger. The prospect of a formidable partnership between him and Kane seemed promising, but unfortunately, it was short-lived.
Maddison had only been with the club for about six weeks when Kane made his departure. Now, the two can only share the field as teammates for the England national team.
While Maddison seems to revel in this role, he did not receive any playing time last night. Nevertheless, he couldn’t contain his delight as he witnessed his skipper find the back of the net.
Kane’s goal secured England’s 3-1 victory over Scotland, prompting him to take to Instagram to celebrate the achievement. To this, Maddison responded with just three words, encapsulating his excitement.
Tottenham’s start to the season has been nothing short of fantastic, and Maddison has played a significant role in their success. Since his arrival from Leicester City in the summer, he has already notched up two goals and two assists in just four Premier League games. It is an outstanding record.
However, one can’t help but ponder how much more impressive his stats would be if Kane had remained by his side instead of Richarlison. Alas, Spurs supporters will never know the answer to that question. Nonetheless, they should be content with the promising start to the new season.
