The upcoming showdown between Leeds and Coventry marks a meeting of the last two seasons’ beaten play-off finalists. Coventry is still reeling from their heartbreaking defeat in the 2022-23 Wembley final against Luton Town, where they fell short in a dramatic penalty shootout. Despite being considered strong contenders for promotion in the 2024-25 campaign, Coventry has struggled to find their form in the new season, managing only five points from their first six games.

As both teams have a full week to prepare for the match, injury concerns loom large on both sides. For Leeds, the availability of Patrick Bamford, Ben Sheaf, Jay Dasilva, Joel Latibeaudiere, and Manor Solomon is in question. Coventry, on the other hand, has seen the return of Tatsuhiro Sakamoto from injury, while Max Wober remains a doubt for the upcoming clash.

Coventry City has been dealt a fresh blow with Jamie Allen’s injury. The experienced midfielder suffered a knee injury during a recent match against Swansea, forcing him off the pitch in just the 24th minute. Allen was seen leaving the stadium in a leg brace and with the aid of crutches, sparking concerns about the severity of his injury. Manager Robins provided an update, revealing that Allen has a knee ligament injury and they are hoping it’s not a serious one that could keep him out for an extended period of time. Allen’s absence will be felt in Coventry’s midfield as they look to navigate through a challenging season ahead.

Raphael Borges Rodrigues, the Australian youth international winger, has also been sidelined for Coventry. Despite joining the Sky Blues in the summer from Macarthur FC, the 21-year-old has been unable to feature due to a thigh strain that he suffered during preseason. Unfortunately, Raphael experienced another setback, prolonging his recovery process. Manager Robins had previously mentioned that Raphael would be out for “a while,” leaving fans eagerly waiting for his return to the pitch to showcase his talents. Coventry will be hoping for a swift recovery for both Allen and Raphael to bolster their squad for the upcoming fixtures.
