After his five-year stint at Wolverhampton Wanderers, Adama Traoré moved to Fulham in August 2023 on a free transfer. Traoré’s time at Wolves was marked by shoulder injuries that began shortly after his arrival from Middlesbrough in 2018. Throughout the 2019/20 season, Transfermarkt reported three instances of Traoré suffering from shoulder problems.
During an appearance on DAZN España’s show, Erasmus FC, Traoré revealed a unique approach Wolves had taken to prevent further injuries. The club had him apply baby oil to his body to deter opponents from aggravating his shoulders. Although he was initially hesitant about this method, Traoré eventually acquiesced due to his former club’s persistence. He recalled the humorous incident when an opponent questioned him about the slippery substance on his hand during a game.
While Traoré managed to avoid recurring shoulder issues, he encountered hamstring injuries both at Wolves and Fulham. Despite missing a significant portion of last season due to these setbacks, he has been a key player for Fulham under the guidance of manager Marco Silva. In the current season, Traoré has scored a goal and provided two assists in seven matches for his new club.
