Leicester City winger signs new contract to 2026

Young Leicester City winger has secured his place at the club with a new two-and-a-half-year contract extension.

Wanya Marcal, who made his league debut earlier this season and scored his first senior goal, is now tied to the club until 2026. His previous contract was set to expire next summer.

The 21-year-old Portuguese youth international caught the eye of Enzo Maresca with his pre-season performances and has become a regular part of the first team. After making four appearances and scoring his first goal for the club, Marcal has been sidelined with injuries but continues to impress at the Under-21 level.

Maresca has expressed confidence that Marcal would have been back in the senior squad if not for his injury. Marcal joins the likes of Ben Nelson in signing new deals with the club, highlighting the commitment to nurturing and retaining talent from the academy and development ranks. This includes other players such as Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Hamza Choudhury, Kasey McAteer, and Jakub Stolarczyk, all of whom have featured for the club this season.
