The solemn moment of reflection was interrupted after only 30 seconds by chants and the display of a contentious pro-Palestine banner. McInnes not only criticized the referee decisions in Kilmarnock’s 2-0 defeat to the reigning champions but also condemned the lack of respect shown during the pre-match tribute.
In his remarks, McInnes said, “It was Celtic who determined when the minute of silence should come to an end. I found this decision to be truly appalling and disrespectful. It is disheartening that we were unable to maintain a simple act of reverence for even just one minute on such an important occasion.”
Sharing his perspective on the matter, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers added, “A minute of silence should be observed for its entire duration. It is a time for reflection, unity, and remembrance.
