In the summer of 2023, Brenden Aaronson was among the eight players from Leeds United who utilized Victor Orta’s relegation clause to go out on loan. However, he was only one of two players to make a return to Elland Road this summer.
Aaronson ventured to Germany with Union Berlin alongside Robin Koch and Max Wober, while Marc Roca headed to Betis and Diego Llorente and Rasmus Kristensen made their way to AS Roma. Meanwhile, Jack Harrison and Luis Sinisterra remained in the Premier League with Everton and Bournemouth respectively.
Since then, some players have departed permanently while others have gone out on loan again. Aaronson, the American midfielder, opened up about his reasons for leaving Leeds in 2023, citing a needed change of scenery for his mental well-being.
After a challenging start in his first season, Aaronson has shown improvement this season with five goals in 16 games. However, there are still areas for growth and potential to be maximized in order to help Leeds secure promotion, with former manager Simon Grayson offering guidance along the way.
