“It’s a possible Exit” -West Brom responds to exit rumors surrounding Josh Maja’s €20m transfer

In the ongoing ‘Terrace Talk’ series by Football League World, one of their FLW Fan Pundits has shared their personal opinion on West Bromwich Albion’s striker Josh Maja potentially moving to Celta Vigo in Spain.

Reports suggest that Celta Vigo is considering a move for Maja in the upcoming January transfer window, with West Brom setting a €20 million asking price. However, FLW Fan Pundit Callum Burgess believes that a transfer in January is unlikely due to Maja’s importance to the team and the club’s history of tough negotiations.

Burgess pointed out that Maja has been a standout performer for West Brom this season, scoring nine goals and providing one assist in 15 league appearances. He expressed the view that it would be beneficial for Maja to stay at West Brom for the foreseeable future and continue developing his game at a club where he feels at home.

With Maja being such a crucial part of Carlos Corberan’s squad and the team’s top scorer, Burgess emphasized the importance of keeping him at the club, especially if they aim to challenge for promotion to the Premier League.

Given Maja’s contract until 2026 and his strong performances, it seems unlikely that Celta Vigo would be willing to meet West Brom’s asking price for the Nigerian striker. As long as Maja remains content at the club, West Brom should be in a comfortable position to resist any potential offers and focus on their pursuit of a top-six finish with the talented forward leading the line.
