£13 West Ham defender could now join world’s sixth biggest club in January

Thilo Kehrer, a player of West Ham United, appears to be on the radar of top-tier clubs in world football for a potential move in January.

Kehrer made the switch to West Ham from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2022 for a reported fee of around £13 million. However, he has struggled to make his mark at the London Stadium since his arrival. As a result, the 27-year-old defender has been linked with a departure from the Hammers during the upcoming January transfer window, with Bundesliga outfits Bayern Munich and Eintracht Frankfurt reportedly expressing interest in securing his services.

While it initially seemed like a promising acquisition for West Ham when David Moyes brought in the 27-capped Germany international, the expected success hasn’t materialized. As a result, Kehrer and the East London club could be heading towards a parting of ways in the imminent winter transfer window.

According to Tuttosport, AC Milan is eyeing Kehrer as a potential transfer target for January. Given the Italian giants’ status as one of the prominent clubs in world football, it’s probable that Kehrer would welcome a move to the San Siro.

Considering the circumstances, a departure from the London Stadium could be in the best interest of all parties involved. Kehrer’s adaptability to the demands of the Premier League has come into question, with concerns raised about his concentration levels, decision-making abilities, and tackling approach. A return to the relatively slower-paced Italian league might offer an ideal setting for him to regain his form during the winter transfer period.

Should West Ham manage to offload Kehrer to AC Milan for a figure close to the £13 million they paid for him 16 months ago, relinquishing him becomes an unmistakable decision for the club.
