MEGA DEAL: Celtic Can Sign Uruguayan International Striker as Free Agent

Following the unsuccessful attempt to find a replacement for Kyogo Furuhashi, Celtic is now looking to acquire the services of Uruguayan striker Maxi Gomez as a free agent. The Japanese forward recently departed for Ligue 1 side Rennes, leaving a void in the team’s attacking line after being a key player for three and a half seasons.

The Scottish champions have made some additions during the transfer window, including Jeffrey Schlupp on loan from Crystal Palace and the return of Jota. However, with only Adam Idah as an established striker and Johnny Kenny as backup, Celtic is in need of more options up front.

Although Daizen Maeda can also fill in, he is suspended for the first leg of the Champions League playoff against Bayern Munich. Therefore, signing a free agent like Maxi Gomez could provide the necessary firepower for the team.

Gomez, who has been without a club since the end of last season, has a strong track record of scoring goals in La Liga and has experience in top-level competitions like the Champions League. With his international experience with Uruguay, the 28-year-old striker could be a valuable addition to Celtic’s squad.

A short-term deal until the end of the season would be a low-risk move for Celtic, with the potential for Gomez to make a significant impact if given the opportunity.
