Following the Baggies’ 1-0 victory over Leeds United on Friday, Leeds manager Daniel Farke expressed frustration, insisting that his team should have been awarded a penalty. The defeat at West Brom dealt a blow to Leeds’ hopes for automatic promotion from the Championship, as they suffered their second successive loss of the season. Farke was particularly irate at referee Graham Scott’s decision not to award a spot-kick for a challenge by Baggies defender Cedric Kipre on Wilfried Gnonto in the 30th minute. Despite controlling 63% of the possession, Leeds failed to seriously test West Brom’s goalkeeper. Farke acknowledged that his team lacked a cutting edge and the necessary brutality to secure a win, highlighting the significance of a missed opportunity to convert a penalty. Meanwhile, West Brom’s Grady Diangana scored the only goal of the match, sealing back-to-back home wins for the team. The victory has propelled the Baggies to within three points of fourth-placed Leeds.
