Celtic dominated Kilmarnock in a 5-1 thrashing at Celtic Park, with the Hoops looking overwhelmed from the start. The Bhoys took a 4-0 lead in the first 24 minutes, and it was clear that Kilmarnock were struggling to cope.
BBC pundit Pat Bonner noted that the Kilmarnock players seemed rattled, shouting at each other as Celtic continued to pour on the pressure. “Kilmarnock players all kind of shouting at each other, and midfielders shouting at defenders and so on,” Bonner observed.
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers was delighted with his team’s performance but frustrated that they couldn’t seal the title on the day. “I’m still frustrated it’s not today, if I’m honest,” Rodgers said. “We’ve done everything we could do today, and whenever and if it comes, we have to be ready for it.”
Rodgers praised Celtic’s Greg Taylor and looked forward to the Scottish Cup semi-final against St Johnstone, saying that the team was “arriving to that in a great place.” Despite the convincing win, Rodgers’ focus remains on securing the title and preparing for the cup competition.
