“I’ve caught up with Johan, nothing too formal,” explained the 58-year-old. “I don’t have the attention span for long meetings, so it tends to be just casual chats with people. It’s the best way to get my point across if I need to say anything. The good thing is he is in the building now, so he’s interacting with all the right people.
“The January window, like for every club, is an important one. My view on the January one is that if you can get your business done early in the window, it certainly is more helpful because you leave it until the end of January and sometimes what you train to gain, you’ve missed that opportunity by waiting a whole month.
“That’s sometimes out of your control, so having him in is good. I’m sure we’ll have a lot of discussions between now and then, and I’m looking forward to working with him.”
Postecoglou on Lange’s work behind the scenes and transfers:
“I guess the challenge for us was they injuries all came at once as it hasn’t been staggered. In terms of January, the planning is well away from that. Johan Lange has come in, and he’s leading that in terms of all the background work,” outlined Postecoglou in late November.
“My involvement and my own sort of ramp up to it as we get closer to January and understanding exactly what our requirements are at the moment, although work has been done in the background with Johan leading it, and he’s brought in some people to help him in that area. We’ll work with him when the time is right.”
