Report: Tottenham ‘very keen’ on signing out-of-favour Man City star

According to Football Transfers, Tottenham Hotspur is rumored to be strategizing a move for Kalvin Phillips, the Manchester City player who has fallen out of favor. Phillips’ transition from Leeds to Etihad last year hasn’t gone as planned as he has struggled to secure playing time in the midfield.

Despite Rodri’s injury, Pep Guardiola has chosen not to utilize Phillips in recent weeks. This was evident when the 27-year-old was not brought on during the match against Arsenal, even when Mateo Kovacic was on the verge of receiving a red card.

Football Transfers now asserts that Phillips is likely to depart from the Premier League champions in the upcoming January transfer window. Ange Postecglou reportedly aims to strengthen his midfield and Tottenham is said to be very interested in acquiring the former Leeds star.

However, the report also mentions that Everton and Newcastle have shown interest in the England international, indicating that Spurs are not the only contenders for his signature.

Considering Phillips’ undeniable talent, he could be a suitable replacement for Hojbjerg. Nevertheless, his history of injuries and Guardiola’s public comments about his weight last season might deter potential suitors from pursuing him.
