Kyogo Furuhashi’s journey since his departure from Celtic has been turbulent. Once an icon at the club, scoring an impressive 85 goals in 165 games, he decided to move to Rennes in January. However, his time at the French club has not been smooth sailing.
The Japan international has found himself on the sidelines, recently even being left out of the match day squad entirely. With Rennes confirming the departure of the director of football who played a key role in bringing Kyogo to the club, rumors are swirling that his exit in the summer is imminent.
Despite former manager Jorge Sampaoli denying involvement in Kyogo’s transfer, his game time has significantly decreased under Habib Beye. Now, with the director of football leaving the club, it seems likely that Kyogo will soon be following suit.
In the meantime, Adam Idah has taken Kyogo’s place at Celtic and has been performing well, scoring his 20th goal of the season against Aberdeen. While the two may be equals in terms of assists, it’s clear that Idah has been more successful since taking over as the main man in the side.
