“I totally disagree, Complete cheating” Richard Keys slams crucial VAR decision during Sunderland’s comeback win against Sheffield United at Wembley

Richard Keys, the former Sky Sports presenter, expressed his dismay at the decision made by VAR that disallowed Sheffield United’s second goal during the Championship play-off final. The controversial ruling proved pivotal in Sunderland’s 2-1 victory, securing their return to the Premier League.

Keys took to social media to voice his disagreement with the decision, stating that there was nothing wrong with the goal and that the goalkeeper had a clear view of the ball. He sympathized with the Blades and believed that the disallowed goal could have changed the outcome of the game.

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder also criticized the VAR decision, questioning the need for technology in just one game. Despite taking an early lead, Sheffield United felt hard done by when the second goal was overturned after a VAR review, leading to Sunderland’s comeback.

Wilder congratulated Sunderland on their promotion but expressed his disappointment with the VAR decision, believing that his team had been punished unfairly. He felt that the goalkeeper did not pose a threat to the save and that the ruling ultimately influenced the game’s outcome.
