PERMANENT DEAL CONFIRMED: “I’m sure of that” – Belief player heading to Sunderland, keen to join Black Cats

Sunderland have successfully secured promotion to the Premier League and are now focused on revamping their squad for the upcoming season.

Reports suggest that Ajax’s Jordan Henderson is a key target for the Black Cats. Speculation from the Dutch press indicates that Sunderland, along with Rangers, are in a strong position to secure his signature.

According to Chris Woerts, the 34-year-old midfielder is poised to make Sunderland his next destination. Woerts, who previously worked as Sunderland’s head of marketing, discussed Henderson’s potential move on De Oranjezomer, with Voetbal Primeur relaying his comments.

Barcelona have recently announced that Lamine Yamal has signed a new contract until 2031. Woerts mentioned Henderson’s salary and future at Ajax during the discussion, hinting at his departure from the Eredivisie club.

Henderson, who began his career in Sunderland’s youth system and later played for their first team before joining Liverpool in 2011, has more than a year left on his contract. Woerts believes that the experienced midfielder is eager to return to his former club.

“In the Eredivisie, that player is from Ajax. The Amsterdammers top the charts in terms of spending, that’s Jordan Henderson. He earns about €4.6m per year,” Woerts stated.

“He’s leaving Ajax, that’s for sure. I am confident he is going back to his old club, to newly-promoted Sunderland. They secured promotion to the Premier League last week. That’s where he started his career, and he is going back to his roots.”
