Wolves supporters can breathe a sigh of relief as the Matheus Cunha transfer drama seems to be coming to a close, with just one hurdle standing in the way of his move.
Cunha impressed fans with his skills under Gary O’Neil in the 2022/23 season, establishing himself as one of the top forwards in the Premier League. However, after consistently delivering strong performances for Wolves, he is now ready to seek new challenges elsewhere.
In March, Cunha expressed his desire to leave the club, and Manchester United emerged as the frontrunners in the race to secure his signature. The Red Devils have reportedly offered Cunha a lucrative £200k-a-week deal to join them, pending the resolution of a minor issue.
Currently, Cunha is waiting on a visa before he can undergo his medical with Manchester United. Despite having played in England for almost three years, foreign players still need to obtain work permits under the UK’s post-Brexit immigration system.
Once this visa hurdle is cleared, Cunha’s transfer to Old Trafford will be finalized, allowing Wolves to begin their search for a suitable replacement. Former captain Mario Lemina has already sent his best wishes to Cunha for his future endeavors, even before he officially becomes a United player.
