All eyes were glued to the Nations League final as various Wolves players both current and former rejoiced in Portugal’s victory triumph over Spain on penalties, following an intense 120 minutes of football.
The victorious Nations League squad boasted an impressive eight players who were either current or former Wolves members. Only two of them currently play for Wolves, with Jose Sa and Nelson Semedo celebrating alongside their ex-teammates.
Former Wolves captain Ruben Neves made history by scoring the decisive penalty that secured the trophy for Portugal, a moment that surely brought joy to many in the West Midlands.
Players like Pedro Neto, Vitinha, Diogo Jota, Trincao, and Pedro Goncalves also contributed to the victory, alongside the duo still affiliated with Wolves. Although Sa did not see any action in the final, Semedo was called into the game halfway through normal time, showcasing his skills for 75 minutes before the penalty shootout sealed the deal.

Even amidst a season of mixed reviews, Neto did not hold back from commending Semedo’s efforts, especially in his defensive role against Nico Williams. Semedo’s attacking prowess was evident as well, as he nearly scored late in the game off of Neto’s cross.
