Over the weekend, Borussia Dortmund made significant strides in securing Sunderland’s Jobe Bellingham.
Sunderland’s sporting director, Kristjaan Speakman, upheld a personal agreement with the Bellingham family to sell the midfielder for a price below his €40m release clause.
The 19-year-old has already made the trip to Germany to complete the necessary paperwork before finalizing his transfer to Borussia Dortmund.
Just moments ago, Sky Deutschland journalist Patrick Berger shared on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) that Bellingham has arrived at Dortmund’s Miners’ Hospital, also known as Knappschaftskrankenhaus, to undergo the second part of his medical examination.
Berger revealed in a video that the England U21 international’s move to the Bundesliga club is expected to be ‘officially confirmed today’ and he will sign a five-year contract.
It was also mentioned that Borussia Dortmund will pay €30.5m plus bonuses to Sunderland for Bellingham’s transfer, with further details on the overall cost to be provided by the club once the transfer is formally announced.
Despite interest from Eintracht Frankfurt and RB Leipzig, Bellingham ultimately chose to join BVB. He is anticipated to be a part of their squad for the upcoming Club World Cup.
