Sunderland’s top priority ahead of the upcoming Premier League season is securing a trio of promising signings potentially worth over £40m. Sporting director Kristjaan Speakman and head of scouting Stuart Harvey are actively pursuing deals for Vladyslav Vanat, Matthis Abline, and Lennon Miller.
With ambitions to strengthen their squad for the challenges of the Premier League, the Black Cats are prepared to support head coach Regis Le Bris in the transfer market. Following their promotion to the top flight, Sunderland faces significant changes with notable departures like Jobe Bellingham and Tommy Watson.
Reports from Ukraine indicate that Sunderland is now considered the front-runners to sign Dynamo Kyiv striker Vladyslav Vanat. Despite interest from other clubs like Leeds United and Fulham, Sunderland is reportedly considering a bid of nearly £17m for the 23-year-old, who was the top scorer in the Ukrainian Premier League.
In addition to Vanat, Sunderland is also eyeing Motherwell midfielder Lennon Miller. The club is optimistic about their chances of securing the 18-year-old’s signature, despite competition from Celtic, Rangers, and other European clubs. Miller, who recently made his debut for Scotland, is seen as a rising star in the UK.
The third target for Sunderland is thought to be Abline, a 22-year-old striker currently playing for FC Nantes in Ligue 1. Multiple clubs, including Burnley and Brentford, are interested in Abline, but Sunderland is said to be in the mix. Marseille and Paris FC are also reportedly keeping an eye on the promising forward.
