Sunderland’s summer transfer activity is heating up as they gear up for their return to the Premier League. Manager Regis Le Bris has wasted no time in strengthening his squad, securing six new signings already, with more reportedly on the way. Sporting director Kristjaan Speakman has hinted at ‘several’ additional targets in the pipeline.

The latest transfer target for the Black Cats appears to be Sassuolo forward Armand Lauriente, with reports suggesting that a fee of £17.5 million has been agreed. The negotiations are being overseen by director of football Florent Ghisolfi and Speakman, who are working diligently to finalize the deal for the versatile attacking player.

Lauriente, who previously worked under Le Bris at FC Lorient, enjoyed a stellar season at Sassuolo last year, netting an impressive 19 goals and providing six assists. His ability to play in multiple positions in the final third, with a particular focus on the left wing, makes him a valuable addition to Sunderland’s attacking options.

As the Premier League season approaches, anticipation is building at the Stadium of Light. Fans are eagerly awaiting the debut of their new signings, including Lauriente, as Sunderland prepares for their upcoming campaign in the top flight. With their first match against West Ham on August 16, the Black Cats are looking to make a strong statement in their return to English football’s elite division.
