Coventry City is gearing up for another challenging season in the Championship following their heartbreaking loss in the play-offs last year.
Despite a slow start that had them as low as 15th in the table in January, Coventry managed to finish fifth in the Championship thanks to a remarkable turnaround under manager Frank Lampard. However, their dreams of promotion were shattered when Sunderland knocked them out in the semi-finals in a thrilling match.
As Lampard looks to recover from the disappointment of the play-offs, he has made three new signings this summer – Carl Rushworth, Kaine Kesler-Hayden, and Miguel Angel Brau. Meanwhile, several players, including Jack Burroughs, Luis Binks, Jamie Paterson, and Fabio Tavares, have left the team.
With the transfer window still open, Coventry is reportedly interested in signing Lens winger Anass Zaroury. After a successful stint at Burnley, Zaroury struggled to find his form at Lens and is now considering a move back to English football.
While Zaroury’s potential arrival would excite Coventry fans, it could spell trouble for Raphael Borges Rodrigues, who has struggled with injuries and limited playing time since joining the club from Australia. With strong competition from Tatsuhiro Sakamoto on the right, Rodrigues may be sent out on loan to gain more experience and prove his worth to Lampard.
