Newcastle United secured another victory on Sunday with a 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest at St James’ Park, thanks to contributions from Bruno Guimaraes and Nick Woltemade.
Bruno Guimaraes played a role in both of Newcastle’s goals, scoring the opener with a curling effort and then earning a penalty after being fouled by Forest’s Elliot Anderson. Nick Woltemade stepped up to convert the penalty and seal the 2-0 win, adding to Newcastle’s recent success following a Champions League victory over Union Saint-Gilloise.
Woltemade, who was signed from Stuttgart in August, has had an immediate impact at Newcastle, scoring in his first three Premier League home games to match the records of Newcastle legends Alan Shearer and Les Ferdinand. In an interview with BBC Sport, Woltemade praised the energy of the team and highlighted the positive influence of manager Eddie Howe, calling him a ‘good gaffer’.
Despite the absence of Yoane Wissa, Newcastle have seen strong performances from summer signings Malick Thiaw and Woltemade. Thiaw has impressed alongside Sven Botman in defense, while Woltemade has been on fire in attack, establishing himself as a bright prospect for the club.
With Anthony Elanga and Jacob Ramsey also part of Newcastle’s summer signings, Eddie Howe will be pleased with the impact of Thiaw and Woltemade and will hope to see continued success from his other additions in the future.
