Nottingham Forest’s chief football officer, Ross Wilson, is reportedly on the brink of leaving the club. The 41-year-old has caught the eye of Newcastle United during their search for a new director of football. Talks between the two clubs are said to be advanced as Wilson looks set to take up a role in the north east.
Since joining Forest in 2023, Wilson has played a key role in the club’s success on and off the pitch, including multiple seasons in the Premier League and their return to European competition. His departure would undoubtedly be a loss for the Reds.
Wilson’s experience includes stints at Huddersfield Town, Southampton, Watford, and Falkirk, as well as a successful tenure at Rangers before joining Forest. Despite rumors of a potential return to Huddersfield, it seems Newcastle is now his next destination.
Meanwhile, Forest recently appointed former Arsenal sporting director Edu as their global head of football, overseeing football-related functions for the club and owner Evangelos Marinakis’ other teams, Olympiacos and Rio Ave. The departure of Wilson will undoubtedly be felt at Forest, but they continue to move forward under new leadership.
