DONE DEAL: Tottenham set to sign Talented midfielder for a whopping transfer fee of €33m

Tottenham Hotspur is making big moves in the January transfer window, and they’re not done yet.

The rumour mill is buzzing with reports of Spurs’ interest in Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes. The 22-year-old has caught the eye of Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United, and Chelsea, but Tottenham is preparing a hefty offer of around £30m to secure his services. With a focus on bolstering their defensive midfield, Spurs are keen on adding depth and quality to their squad.

If the deal goes through, Brazilian club Flamengo stands to gain from the move, as they hold 10% of Gomes’ economic rights.

Having made 17 starts in the Premier League this season, Gomes is steadily earning attention from top clubs with his performances. He’s becoming known as a solid and reliable midfielder, and Spurs are eager to add him to their roster.

This potential signing comes in the wake of Tottenham’s loan deal for Timo Werner from RB Leipzig and the acquisition of Radu Grasin from Genoa. There’s also the option to make Werner’s move permanent next summer. With an eye on midfield reinforcements, Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher and Leeds’ Kalvin Phillips are also on Tottenham’s radar.

It’s a smart move for Spurs to pursue Gomes, who shows promise as a young midfielder, averaging about 3.2 tackles per game and displaying strong passing skills. He’s in the prime years of his career, and he could be just what Tottenham needs to strengthen their midfield.
