Nottingham Forest is on the lookout for a new striker following Arnaud Kalimuendo’s departure, with the need for fresh attacking options to boost the squad.
Kalimuendo’s stint at Forest was short-lived, only getting 88 minutes of playing time in nine Premier League games before being loaned out to Eintracht Frankfurt. The team’s other striker, Igor Jesus, has struggled to make an impact, with just two goal contributions in 20 league appearances.
Forest has set their sights on Olympiacos’ Mehdi Taremi, who has impressed with 13 goals this season. While Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Jorgen Strand Larsen and Fenerbahce’s Youssef En-Nesyri are also potential targets, a new candidate has emerged.
Brighton & Hove Albion’s Evan Ferguson, currently on loan at AS Roma, has caught Forest’s attention. The Irish striker may face competition from Real Betis and Napoli should he return to Brighton. With Roma eyeing Manchester United’s Joshua Zirkzee, Ferguson’s departure could open up opportunities for a move.
Despite being described as “special” and showing promise, Ferguson is yet to fully showcase his potential. With only several goals to his name, the 21-year-old remains a risky signing for Forest, although his recent performances suggest he may be hitting his stride. Despite his valuation and recognition for his talents, he has yet to consistently deliver in terms of goal-scoring.
