DEVASTATING: Leicester City midfielder – who reportedly spent £250,000 on cars in one day – has been charged with drink driving

Leicester City midfielder Hamza Choudhury is facing charges of drink driving after being pulled over by police in Nottingham in the early hours of Friday. The 26-year-old reportedly refused to take a breathalyser test and was subsequently arrested at the scene.

Choudhury, who lives in Rushcliffe, Nottingham, is out on bail and is scheduled to appear in court on February 23. The footballer, who reportedly earns £50,000 a week, has had previous off-field issues, including a party attendance during a Covid lockdown in 2021 and offensive social media posts in 2019.

Once considered a potential England team contender, Choudhury has played more than 50 Premiership games and won the FA Cup with Leicester City before the team was relegated to the Championship last year. He also made headlines in 2022 for reportedly spending £250,000 on a Bentley Bentayga and a Range Rover on the same day.

A Nottingham Police spokesperson confirmed the incident, stating that Choudhury has been charged with driving while over the alcohol limit, driving without due care and attention, and failing to co-operate with a preliminary test. Leicester City FC declined to comment on the situation.
