Leeds United Eye Shock Move for Chelsea Striker Liam Delap

Leeds United are reportedly considering a summer move for Chelsea F.C. striker Liam Delap as Daniel Farke looks to strengthen his attacking options ahead of next season.

According to recent reports from TEAMtalk, Leeds have emerged as serious contenders for the England Under-21 international, with the club monitoring Delap’s uncertain situation at Stamford Bridge.

Delap only joined Chelsea from Ipswich Town last summer after attracting interest from several Premier League clubs, including Manchester United and Newcastle United. Chelsea secured the striker in a deal believed to be worth around £30 million following Ipswich’s relegation from the Premier League.

However, the 23-year-old has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter under Enzo Maresca. Injuries, inconsistent form, and Chelsea’s constant search for another elite striker have left doubts surrounding his long-term future in West London.

Now Leeds are hoping they could take advantage of the situation.

The Whites are expected to be active in the transfer market after securing Premier League survival, with Farke prioritising the signing of a reliable centre-forward. Reports suggest the Leeds manager believes Delap’s physical style, pressing ability, and Premier League experience would suit his system perfectly.

Despite his difficult campaign at Chelsea, Delap remains highly rated across English football.

The former Manchester City academy striker impressed during his breakthrough season with Ipswich, where his aggressive running, aerial strength, and finishing made him one of the Premier League’s most promising young forwards. His performances earned widespread interest before Chelsea ultimately won the race for his signature.

Leeds are not alone in the chase.

Reports indicate Newcastle United, Everton F.C., and Manchester United are all keeping tabs on Delap’s situation ahead of the summer transfer window.

There is also speculation Chelsea could allow the striker to leave if they complete another major signing in attack. The Blues have been linked with several forwards in recent months, including Dusan Vlahović, Victor Osimhen, and Emmanuel Emegha.

For Leeds, signing Delap would represent a major statement of ambition.

The club wants to avoid another relegation battle and believes adding proven Premier League-level talent is essential if they are to establish themselves back in the top flight. Delap’s age, experience, and potential make him an attractive option despite his mixed spell at Chelsea.

Whether Chelsea are prepared to sanction a permanent sale, loan move, or keep faith in the young striker remains unclear. But with interest growing rapidly and Leeds now firmly in the picture, Liam Delap’s future is becoming one of the stories to watch this summer.
