TRANSFER AGREEMENT IN PROGRESS:Leicester City in intense negotiations for the sale of aging 29-year-old player

Leicester City have reportedly engaged in discussions with Antwerp regarding a potential transfer deal for Dennis Praet, according to Het Laatste Niuews (via Sport Witness).

Currently leading the Championship table, Enzo Maresca’s team seems poised to make a swift return to Premier League football.

The Foxes have had a successful season so far, holding a seven-point advantage over Ipswich Town and an eight-point lead over the play-offs.

Praet, 29, has only appeared in five Championship matches for Leicester City this season, with one assist. With his contract set to expire in the summer and his lack of playing time, an extension seems unlikely.

Though Antwerp has been linked with Praet for some time, recent reports suggest that initial talks have taken place for a potential loan agreement. Additionally, Antwerp may be willing to cover a substantial portion of his wages to entice Leicester City into agreeing to a deal.

Leicester City has underutilized Praet this season, despite the Belgian international playing 22 games in the Premier League last season and once being a regular at the King Power Stadium.

The 29-year-old would benefit from more playing time before the end of the season; with just a week left in the transfer window, time is running out to secure a deal.

A loan move would provide Praet the chance to showcase his skills before potentially becoming a free agent in the summer.

With the transfer deadline rapidly approaching, this situation is one to monitor closely.

Leicester City is set to face Birmingham City in an FA Cup home clash this Saturday.
