Leicester City left in shock as Enzo Maresca sets sights on record-breaking double transfer coup

Following the unexpected recall of Cesare Casadei by Chelsea, Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca is now on the hunt for two new midfielders as the transfer window deadline draws closer. Despite already facing difficulties in signing a single player, Maresca is now left even more short on options and hopes to secure two new faces for the team.

The manager’s top choice is Inter Milan’s Stefano Sensi, but financial constraints have made the deal difficult to finalize, even though the Italian international is available for a relatively low fee. At the beginning of the month, City had informed Maresca that they would need to sell players before making new signings, and while Casadei’s departure will provide a small financial boost, Maresca has not been informed of any additional funds to work with.

With just a week left before the transfer window closes, Maresca is uncertain about his prospects of securing new midfielders, expressing his surprise and disappointment over Casadei’s recall and the struggles in bringing in new players. In the meantime, Maresca has made tactical adjustments, moving Ricardo Pereira into an advanced midfield position and may continue to do so in the absence of key players such as Wilfred Ndidi, Yunus Akgun, and Dennis Praet.
