Leicester appears poised to reach an agreement for the departure of Kelechi Iheanacho as Patson Daka returns from AFCON.

Kelechi Iheanacho, 27, will be a free agent this summer and is once again a hot topic in the rumour mill during the January transfer window. With his involvement in the ongoing AFCON tournament for Nigeria, it may be challenging for him to secure a move, but not impossible.

Real Betis has expressed interest in signing Iheanacho, with Crystal Palace also showing interest in the past. However, no deal materialized with the latter.

With the return of Patson Daka from AFCON, as well as the presence of Jamie Vardy and Tom Cannon as striking options, and Iheanacho’s contract nearing its end, it seems inevitable that the Nigerian international will depart. Daka has been in impressive form before AFCON and is on a long-term contract, making him a valuable asset for Leicester.

Daka was also the subject of transfer speculation in the summer, with AC Milan and Bournemouth reportedly interested in him. However, it seems he is now focused on continuing his success with Leicester.

It is hoped that Daka will return to the starting lineup for Leicester, as he has shown his goal-scoring prowess for Zambia. With Daka leading the attack, Leicester’s goal-scoring opportunities are likely to increase.

With the progress of Cannon and Vardy as backup options, it appears that Iheanacho’s time at the club is coming to an end, and Real Betis may be close to securing his signature.
