Tottenham not giving in to Barcelona’s desire to sign ideal Robert Lewandowski partner

According to Sport, Tottenham Hotspur is not keen on letting talented Argentine midfielder Giovani Lo Celso go, despite interest from Barcelona. Xavi Hernandez, Barcelona’s manager, is reportedly interested in bringing Lo Celso to the club to link up with Robert Lewandowski in the attacking third.

As James Maddison nears a return, Lo Celso may see fewer opportunities in the starting lineup. Ange Postecoglou has been cautious about fielding both Lo Celso and Maddison together, but the Argentine midfielder is expected to have a significant role to play, with plenty of chances likely to arise in a busy schedule, even if it means coming off the bench.

Lo Celso has been making a growing impact on the team this season, and Barcelona has been linked with him for some time. Considering Spurs’ current squad depth and Lo Celso’s contract expiring after the 2024-25 season, it’s difficult to understand why the club would consider a loan offer unless it covers his wages.

However, Lo Celso seems content at Spurs, enjoying Postecoglou’s style of play and the opportunity to make a significant impact. His positive sentiments bode well for the club’s efforts to keep him. If he does eventually leave, the club could potentially receive a significant transfer fee, given his recent performances. As he has a year and a half left on his contract, Tottenham seems unwilling to negotiate his departure.
