Journalist explains Ange Postecoglou’s priority signing for Spurs in January

According to Rudy Galetti, Ange Postecoglou’s priority for the January transfer window at Spurs is finding replacements for the injured Manor Solomon and Ivan Perisic. There is mention of Conor Gallagher as a possible midfield reinforcement as well.

Recent reports have given conflicting information regarding Gallagher’s future. The Athletic reported on September 12 that Chelsea would be open to selling him in January, with Tottenham showing interest. However, Football Insider recently suggested that Gallagher is likely to sign a new contract with Chelsea, as he has been assured of his importance in Pochettino’s plans.

Galetti’s update suggests that Spurs are still hopeful of signing Gallagher, potentially by offloading Giovani Lo Celso and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to make room for him. Galetti also confirmed Tottenham’s interest in Al-Ittihad winger Jota and Postecoglou’s desire to invest in a new forward.

Galetti stated, “On the exits list, the main names are Giovanni Lo Celso and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. The chances of them leaving in January, possibly to Spain, are growing. For Lo Celso, Tottenham is open to considering a loan option. The potential departure of Hojbjerg, with Atletico Madrid interested, could open up possibilities, including a possible move for Conor Gallagher. However, Postecoglou’s priority is to replace Ivan Perisic and Manor Solomon, both injured, on the left side of the pitch.”

While Chelsea may be reluctant to let Gallagher leave in January as he seems to be a key part of Pochettino’s plans, Tottenham may still make an offer if the midfielder doesn’t sign a new contract in the coming months.
