Asante Kotoko, the Ghanaian powerhouse, has announced that they have cut ties with striker Abdul Fatawu Issahaku. This decision comes just three weeks after signing the player to bolster the team’s lineup.
In a press release on Monday, February 5th, the club stated that the contract termination is due to medical reasons.
“Asante Kotoko has decided to part ways with forward Abdul Fatawu Issahaku due to medical issues. The club brought the player on board to meet registration deadlines set by the Ghana Football Association, but it was essential for the player to undergo a pre-competition medical assessment, a compulsory requirement by the GFA.
After the initial assessment, further tests revealed additional health concerns that could sideline the player for an extended period. Upon learning of this, the club determined that continuing the contractual relationship would not be beneficial for either party. The specific medical condition has been communicated to the player,” the statement read.
The release also mentioned that the GFA has rejected the registration of Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, leading to the decision that retaining him at the club would not be in the best interests of either party.
