Exciting Leicester City prospect, Will Alves, made his long-awaited return from injury this week after playing very little football since suffering a devastating ACL tear in December 2022. The 18-year-old midfielder played over an hour in the Premier League Cup, helping the young Foxes secure a 3-2 victory over Brentford and qualify for the next round.
Alves previously faced a horror challenge in 2022, which angered then-boss Brendan Rodgers when City’s under 18s played Wolves. Despite setbacks, Alves had a 45-minute run-out in the EFL Trophy and also played 90 minutes against Wolves in December in the PL2.
Hoping to put his injury issues behind him, Alves is keen to continue to justify the excitement around him after being described by Enzo Maresca as having “something special.”
“It’s a brilliant feeling,” Alves told LCFC. “I think the lads started off slowly, but winning three games on the bounce in this competition has been really good for us. I thought I did well; it was just nice to be out there playing again, really.”
As for the future, Victor Kristiansen reportedly has no desire to return to Leicester City in the summer once his loan spell with Serie A club Bologna expires. The Danish left-back, 21, has spent this season in Italy and has been performing well. It’s claimed that Bologna remain undecided about permanently acquiring Kristiansen but will assess his performances closely before making a decision at the end of the season.
