The summer saga surrounding Kawhi Leonard has taken another extraordinary twist, and while uncertainty continues to cloud the blockbuster trade involving the Toronto Raptors and Los Angeles Clippers, there is now a surprising scenario that could leave Toronto in an even stronger position than originally imagined.
The NBA is still reviewing allegations that the Clippers may have violated league salary-cap rules through undisclosed financial arrangements connected to Leonard’s contract. Until the investigation reaches a conclusion, the trade remains unresolved, leaving both organizations waiting for clarity.
For Toronto, however, the ongoing delay could present an unexpected opportunity.
If league investigators determine that Leonard’s contract should be voided because of proven salary-cap circumvention, the consequences would stretch far beyond the Clippers.
