Reportedly, Leicester City is unlikely to make Yunus Akgun’s loan deal permanent at the end of the season, as stated by Turkish outlet NTV Spor (via Sport Witness).
Akgun, who plays for Galatasaray, joined the Foxes on loan with an obligation to buy clause. This would automatically be triggered if the player starts 25 games for the club. However, with only 8 starts so far this season, it seems unlikely that he will reach the required number of starts.
However, the loan deal also includes an option to buy clause, allowing the Championship club to sign Akgun for €8m.
Despite his less than stellar performances at Leicester, with only 2 goals and 2 assists in 18 appearances, there is potential for the club to negotiate a reduced fee for the player if they do ultimately decide to sign him permanently.
