During his time as the manager of Leeds United, Jesse Marsch was aware of the financial difficulties that Everton was facing. The Toffees had been charged with breaching the Premier League’s Profit & Sustainability rules and were eventually handed a 10-point penalty in November. Marsch, who was sacked in February last year, expressed his knowledge of Everton’s financial struggles and suggested that it would have been preferable for the points deduction to have been implemented at the time the Toffees breached the deficit cap. He also mentioned that Leeds United had been considering legal action against Everton, along with Leicester and Burnley, due to their overspending that allowed them to avoid relegation. Marsch emphasized the need to focus on what they could control and perform to the best of their abilities at Leeds United, but acknowledged the impact that the points deductions could have had during his tenure at the club.
