Daniel Farke offered an update on the status of his squad’s injuries as they prepare for the upcoming match against Leicester City. Following last weekend’s 2-0 victory at Plymouth Argyle, Farke was missing six players, but he did receive positive news regarding the return of Jaidon Anthony, who is back in contention after being absent due to personal reasons.
The most surprisingly optimistic news came in regards to Patrick Bamford, who was initially expected to be sidelined for 10-12 days. Despite being forced to withdraw during the warm-up of the previous week’s 4-0 win at Swansea City, there is now a possibility that he could be available for the upcoming match sooner than initially anticipated.
Farke expressed, “Patrick has shown positive development in the past few days. It may not be realistic for him to play in this game, but who knows? There are still 48 hours left until the match. Although he is not yet participating in team training, his return to the squad is a possibility. He will definitely be available next week, but there is even a slight chance for his return sooner.”
Having Bamford back in the squad would provide a significant boost, given his impressive form before his injury. However, Farke remains cautious and does not want to rush his return and risk further injury, especially considering Bamford’s history of injuries over the past few years.
While Leeds has been able to manage without Bamford in their last two matches, his potential return would undoubtedly be beneficial as they face an upcoming busy schedule of fixtures, particularly the match against Chelsea.
