DELICATE “DOUBTFUL” Rick Parry react to independent regulator amid £900m update last week

Leeds United is excelling in the Championship and a swift return to the Premier League seems very likely. However, this success has put them in a tricky situation due to the ongoing tensions between the top-flight and the English Football League, given Leeds’ immediate goals.

Last week, the Premier League’s £900 million support plan, which aims to redistribute revenues throughout the pyramid, was delayed, leaving Leeds and other EFL clubs disappointed. Nevertheless, EFL chairman Rick Parry has provided an optimistic update, expressing hope that an independent regulator will soon be appointed to resolve the conflict. This positive news comes after the introduction of the Football Governance Bill to Parliament.

While Leeds hope for a promotion to the Premier League soon, they can find solace in the fact that a deal for revenue redistribution should be finalized in the near future if they fail to secure the promotion. The club, along with other EFL teams, will be pleased with Parry’s latest announcement, as it signifies progress towards a resolution.

Although there is still work to be done to reach a consensus, Leeds appreciates Parry’s efforts in navigating the delicate relationship between the EFL and the Premier League.
