Over the previous summer, a clause in Victor Orta’s contract caused a great deal of frustration for Leeds United as key players left the team to go out on loan without Leeds having any power to prevent it.
One of the players affected was Max Wober, an Austrian star who seemed poised to stay with the team and even participated in pre-season games. However, at the first sign of interest, he was swiftly gone – off to Gladbach. This pattern continued with Brenden Aaronson, Marc Roca, Diego Llorente, Rasmus Kristensen, Robin Koch, Luis Sinisterra, and Jack Harrison all departing to top-tier teams in various European countries.
Fortunately, this summer, some of these players will be returning. Koch is set to join Frankfurt while Sinisterra has made a permanent move to Bournemouth. Llorente and Roca are expected to sign with Roma and Betis permanently.
Leeds are planning to sell Harrison when he returns from Everton, as his performances for the club during the latest season have been less than impressive. However, it is uncertain whether Everton will attempt to sign him permanently due to their financial situation.
Given Everton’s financial troubles, it seems likely that Harrison will return to Leeds rather than remaining with Everton permanently. The club will then assess his future before making a decision, but it is expected that Leeds will try to sell Harrison permanently this summer, although the asking price is not yet known.
Harrison, praised as “spectacular” by Garth Crooks, is sure to attract interest in the upcoming summer transfer window. With his potential, he could find a new home in a European club pushing for success. Despite his struggles at Everton, teams like Unai Emery’s and West Ham may still be interested in him.
Having previously played in the MLS with New York City, Harrison may also consider a move back to America at some point in his career. For now, though, Leeds will hope to generate interest from overseas clubs to avoid facing him in the upcoming season.
