Enzo Maresca’s Leicester City side are set to face off against third-placed Leeds United at the King Power Stadium on Friday night, with hopes of widening the 14 point gap between the two teams.
Leeds United manager Daniel Farke remains cautiously optimistic about the availability of his key players for the clash against Leicester City, despite them being forced off the pitch in their previous game.
Both teams enter the big Championship clash in good form, with City aiming for their tenth consecutive league win and hoping to extend their 14-point lead over Leeds in third place.
After suffering a 1-0 loss to Stoke City, Farke’s men bounced back with an impressive 4-1 victory over Huddersfield Town. However, this triumph came with some injury concerns.
Crysencio Summerville and Sam Bryam were both substituted after the hour mark, despite the former scoring two goals in the first half. Farke revealed that both players reported minor muscle problems at half-time.
Leeds encountered another setback a few minutes later when influential defender Joe Rodon pulled up with a potential hamstring injury. Rodon has played a crucial role in Leeds’ recent success.
Following the weekend’s game, Farke offered an optimistic update on the trio’s availability against City. He stated, “Cry and Sam reported some minor muscle problems at half-time. We didn’t want to take any risks, so we had to substitute them. Joe Rodon felt something in his hamstring, but it doesn’t seem to be a major injury. We are cautiously confident and optimistic that all three of them will be available.”
In contrast, Enzo Maresca confirmed that winger Yunus Akgun is expected to be back for the match against Leeds. The Turkish international missed the past two games after being withdrawn during the second half against Swansea.
Furthermore, striker Tom Cannon has returned to training and is edging closer to making his debut for the club after signing just before the transfer deadline. However, the game against Leeds may come too soon for the 20-year-old.
