John Hartson explodes with emotion over Dan James’ ‘tragic’ performance in Wales vs Poland, completely devastated.

Leeds United star Dan James is in need of support after his penalty miss for Wales in the Euro 2024 play-off final against Poland, as suggested by John Hartson.

Throughout the match where Wales faced off against Poland in a nail-biting encounter, James was the unfortunate sole player to see his spot-kick saved. The game ultimately concluded with a 0-0 draw, leading to Poland emerging victorious in a tense penalty shootout with a 5-4 scoreline after James’ miss.

Expressing his sentiments on social media right after the game, Hartson wrote: “Heartache for Wales.. Dan James was brave enough to step up to take a penalty.. the boy will be devastated, he needs to be looked after now not thrown to the lions. Look after your own.”

In what was otherwise an electrifying atmosphere at the Cardiff City Stadium, the anxiety among fans was palpable as the match remained in a deadlock without any goals.

Leeds talents Joe Rodon, Connor Roberts, and Ethan Ampadu were relied upon by manager Rob Page in the starting lineup, with James entering the field as a substitute. Unfortunately, he failed to replicate his impact from the previous match against Finland, where he had scored after coming off the bench.

The heartbreaking moment arrived during the penalty shootout, with James experiencing a crushing blow as Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny denied his spot-kick. With Poland successfully converting all five of their penalties, they secured a place in the upcoming major tournament in Germany, leaving Welsh supporters devastated.

While James will undoubtedly carry the weight of his miss for some time to come, it will be crucial for Leeds United boss Daniel Farke to ensure that the player receives the necessary support and focus upon his return to Elland Road amid a tightly contested Championship title race.
