West Ham United has set their sights on acquiring Kelechi Iheanacho from Leicester City in the upcoming January transfer window, according to a report from TEAMtalk.
David Moyes, the manager of the Hammers, is in desperate need of a new striker, although he continues to show support for Michail Antonio. However, the form of Antonio this season has been abysmal, with more effort seeming to be put into his podcast than on the pitch.
Moyes is now actively searching for an upgrade, and Iheanacho has been linked with a move to West Ham before, even during the previous summer transfer window. The 27-year-old forward has shown promise and could be a solid replacement for Antonio if he decides to leave the London Stadium.
With 100 goals in 343 appearances for club and country, Iheanacho’s record may not be the most prolific, but his hold-up play and technical ability are exceptional. As far as the writer is concerned, he would be a significant improvement over Antonio.
In their opinion, securing Iheanacho’s services would be a clever move for West Ham in the winter window, as long as the fee is reasonable. However, Crystal Palace and Brentford are also reportedly interested in signing the Nigerian, which could create some competition for West Ham.
