Leeds United’s promotion to the Premier League could see Championship club swimming in cash influx

Leeds United’s potential Championship promotion could see Swansea City pocket a hefty seven-figure sum, according to Wales Online. The Whites are set to face Norwich City in the play-off semi-finals this weekend after paying a reported £10.5m fee to sign Joel Piroe from the Swans last summer. The deal could potentially reach £16m with performance-related bonuses.

If Leeds secure promotion to the Premier League, Swansea may receive around £3m as part of the agreement. Despite a mixed season for Piroe at Elland Road, the Dutch striker has shown flashes of brilliance with eight goals in his first 16 appearances. However, he has struggled for consistency as boss Daniel Farke has favored Patrick Bamford up front.

With Bamford’s injury, Piroe has had the chance to prove his worth in recent matches, scoring his 13th goal of the season against Southampton. If Bamford remains sidelined, Piroe is likely to lead the line in the crucial play-off clash with Norwich. Swansea will be hoping for a successful season next year after finishing in the lower half of the Championship table.
