Leeds United could be handed promotion boost with Leicester City set to lose duo

Leeds United’s chances of promotion could receive a significant lift in the upcoming January transfer window, as Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho are nearing the end of their contracts and attracting interest from several top clubs.

According to TeamTalk, Ndidi is a target for Newcastle United, as well as clubs like Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Lyon and Monaco. Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, and Brentford are also eyeing a move for the central midfielder, with Brentford also interested in signing Iheanacho, along with Crystal Palace and West Ham United.

The impending expiration of both players’ contracts at the end of the current season means they will be free to negotiate with clubs in January for a potential free transfer in the summer. Although Leicester are keen on extending their stay, they have not yet reached an agreement with Ndidi or Iheanacho.

Leeds United’s recent victory over Leicester City saw them reduce the gap to the top of the table by three points, and the potential departure of Ndidi and Iheanacho could be a timely boost for their promotion hopes if Leicester decides to sell them during the January transfer window rather than risk losing them for free in the summer.
