As the match neared its conclusion, tempers flared and a confrontation erupted between Todd Cantwell and Greg Taylor during a substitution. Cantwell was shown a yellow card after a physical altercation with Taylor that was not captured on camera.
After the final whistle blew, a video circulating on social media showed Cantwell in a heated exchange with linesman David Roome. Despite Leon Balogun’s efforts to calm the situation, Cantwell continued to argue. Clement stepped in to physically remove Cantwell from the situation, potentially preventing a red card from being issued retrospectively.
Clement’s intervention helped to de-escalate the conflict, and Cantwell eventually left the field, bringing an end to a tumultuous end to the Cup Final.
