DEAL CONFIRMED Medical set be completed: Celtic playmaker Epic Transfer Saga: Celtic Securing the Star Striker While Cruz Azul Prepares for the Medical

Giorgos Giakoumakis, the talented striker, is embarking on another chapter in his football journey just 15 months after bidding farewell to Celtic and making the move to Atlanta United. The 29-year-old was sold by the Hoops to the MLS side for a modest £3.5 million fee in March of 2023. However, reports now indicate that his upcoming transfer to Mexican Liga MX giants Cruz Azul will see the club pay close to double that amount, at £7.8 million, to secure his services.

Known for his impressive goal-scoring record, Giakoumakis has found the back of the net 24 times in just 43 appearances during his time in the United States. It seems that his performances have not gone unnoticed, with Cruz Azul eager to bring him on board to strengthen their attacking line-up.

Renowned transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Giakoumakis is all set to complete a medical examination next week before being officially unveiled by his new club. In an online update, Romano shared, “Giōrgos Giakoumakīs to Cruz Azul, deal confirmed for a guaranteed fee of $10 million. Medical tests and travel arrangements on the agenda for next week. Atlanta United has given the green light, with Giakoumakīs set to extend his contract until 2028 in Mexico – all finalized with his agent Blash Hosseini.

This move comes as a surprise to some, as Giakoumakis had recently expressed his dedication to Atlanta United in an interview just six weeks ago. In that conversation, he had asserted, “As long as the team respects me and makes me feel important, this is my home. I don’t think about any other club.” Despite this proclamation of loyalty, Giakoumakis is now poised to make the transition to Cruz Azul, opening up new horizons in his professional career.
