TRANSFER CLASH: Tottenham to contend with Crystal Palace and Newcastle to sign 19-year-old sensation; talks in progress

Crystal Palace are aggressively pursuing a deal to sign Blackburn Rovers standout Adam Wharton before the winter transfer deadline, aiming to outmaneuver Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur in the race for his talents.

Wharton, a versatile 19-year-old central midfielder, has been a key player for Blackburn over the past two seasons, making 29 appearances this term and showcasing his ability to play as a No 6, No 8, or No 10.

Despite Blackburn securing Wharton on a long-term contract until June 2028, multiple clubs are competing to secure his services, including Everton, Crystal Palace, and Tottenham.

Crystal Palace appears to be leading the charge for Wharton, with reports suggesting they may launch a substantial bid to secure his signature before the end of the month, hoping to stave off competition from Newcastle and Tottenham.

However, while Tottenham is also said to be eager to sign Wharton, it seems both them and Newcastle are leaning towards a summer move, allowing Crystal Palace to potentially make a decisive move in the coming days.

Reports indicate that Crystal Palace have already had an £18.5m bid rejected and may need to surpass the £20m mark to strike a deal with Blackburn for Wharton’s transfer. If the move goes through, Wharton could follow in the footsteps of former Championship standouts Ebere Eze and Michael Olise, flourishing in the Premier League with Crystal Palace.

But the potential for Wharton’s transfer to Palace may hinge on the future of current manager Roy Hodgson, who is facing increasing pressure following a poor run of results for the club.
